COMPETITION RULES – PLEASE NOTE – AN OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM MUST BE OBTAINED FROM STUDIO ARTS AND SUBMITTED WITH YOUR ENTRY

·        Paintings may be of any subject of the artist’s choice.

·        Paintings may be in any media except computer generated images, prints or photographs.

·        The image area of the painting must be no greater than 500 mm square.

·        All paintings must be the artist’s own original work. No copies will be allowed.

·        Paintings must be submitted unframed.  Mounts are permissible if the artist so desires and pastels may be protected by clear plastic. Please ensure oil paintings are perfectly dry.

·        Only one entry per person is allowed.

·        Entrants must reside within a 15 mile radius of Lancaster.

·        Paintings will be judged in three age groups as follows [Age as at 8^th September 2006]

17 to 21        22 to 25        26 to 30

There will be one outright winner in each group.

·        The competition will be judged by a panel which will include professional artists.

The judges decision is final.

·        Winners will each receive art materials of their choice to the value of £ 100 from Studio Arts, North Road, Lancaster plus one year’s free membership of the Lancaster and District Art Society [worth £ 25]. In addition, the winning entries will be framed at the Art Society’s expense and displayed during the Society exhibition in the City Museum in November/December of this year. If the artist so wishes their painting may be offered for sale at the exhibition.

Prizes will be presented at the preview night of the exhibition.

·        Closing date for entries is 8^th September 2006.

All entries to be delivered to Studio Arts, North Road, Lancaster between the 23^rd  August and the competition closing date [8^th September].

·        Winners will be notified by 30^th September.

If you have not been notified as a winner by that date please collect your painting from the Methodist Church Hall, Norwood Drive, Torrisholme during the Art Society Open Day on 7^th October 2006 between 11 am and 3 pm.

·        Although every possible care will be taken, Lancaster and District Art Society or Studio Arts cannot be held responsible for accidental loss or damage of paintings whilst in their possession.

·        No correspondence can be entered into with the organisers.
