Trevor R. Owens was born in Liverpool and educated at the Liverpool Collegiate School where he gained a distinction in art.  While living in Liverpool, he exhibited regularly with the Merseyside Artists Association.

In 1970 he moved to London where he was engaged in public relations for a well known financial organisation and subsequently transferred to its advertising department with responsibility for design and visual presentations.  However, he missed the northern scene and at the first opportunity moved to Lancaster to devote his time to painting.

There are now signed limited edition prints, taken from paintings depicting the railway station of Lancaster, and the Grange-over-Sands line.  The Lancaster picture, entitled "Christmas Leave", was chosen by Waddington's in 1991 to produce a jigsaw puzzle and, as a 500 piece luxury edition, proved to be very popular.
