These stalls were usually on the funfair, near the dart stall and the ‘Smash the Plates’ booth.  The peas were served in little metal containers.  You were supposed to eat them at the stall, so that none of the containers went missing.  Soup was also served at these stalls and there were usually two or three forms for the old folk to sit on whilst they enjoyed their warm food.  Almost always, there was a dog hanging around in the hope of a few scraps falling to the floor.
