Albert Dickens - Professional artist and designer

October 2012 we are sorry to say that Albert has passed away.

Albert Dickens N.D.D. Manchester College of Art, Painting and Design also attended Edinburgh College of Art part-time.

"I worked in Manchester designing textiles for fashion and furnishing fabrics, this period created a lifelong interest in textures and effects of all kinds. After spending some time in Manchester I came to Lancaster to work in the wall covering industry. During this time I developed my connection with a design agency in Germany, and after moving to Scotland to work on floor covering design for a few years I moved back to Lancaster. After spending a short time in wall coverings again I decided to go freelance.

I have always carried on my painting in unison with design, I was a regular exhibitor at the Manchester Academy and have also exhibited in Scotland and in a number of mixed exhibitions. I also have paintings in private collections in Singapore and America and designed greetings cards for various companies in the UK.

One of my great interests in painting is in the atmospheric effects of the mountains of the Lake District and Scotland, not so much in painting them topographically but by a vibrant use of paint."
