WELCOME TO EAC OVER 60S ART AWARDS!
The Art Awards were created in 1995 to celebrate and promote the artistic talents of older people. This national, annual competition for amateur artists has since gone from strength to strength, attracting thousands of entries from across the UK, and culminating each year in an exhibition of finalists in London. Art Awards is open to all older people, and EAC works closely with providers of retirement housing, care homes and day centres to encourage the widest possible participation. |

Jerwood
Drawing Prize 180-30.jpg "Gary Lawrence - Homage to Anonymous (detail) 2011") Essex artist Gary Lawrence has won First Prize in the Jerwood Drawing Prize 2011 with his Homage to Anonymous (2011) a large-scale imitation engraving executed in ballpoint pen (one very small detail shown). He dedicated it to "all the anonymous artists through history who made work but are unrecognised". I'll vote for that. The exhibition of 60 selected entries out of 3,500 submitted this year opened on Wednesday at Jerwood Visual Arts in London and runs till 30 October. |
