Submissions (entries by 30 June 2009)  invited to   artsdepot Open 2009 Thu 23 July Sun 23 Aug       artsdepot's annual open submission art exhibition, formerly the Barnet Open, will re-launch this year as artsdepot Open. artsdepot is passionate about art and artists and this exhibition is a celebration of their creativity.   Submissions are encouraged from both emerging and established artists. The exhibition is a fantastic opportunity for artists to have their work prominently displayed at artsdepot. 
Closing date for submissions is 5pm, Monday 1 June 2009.

    BP Portrait Award is the most prestigious portrait competition in the world
  The BP Portrait Award is the most prestigious portrait competition in the world

The exhibition of 56 best portraits out of a record 1,901 entries will open at the National Portrait Gallery, London, on 18 June.

 The BP Portrait Award is the most prestigious portrait competition in the world, highlighting the very best in contemporary portrait painting. Open to everyone over the age of 18, the competition and resulting exhibition aim to encourage artists to focus upon and develop the theme of portraiture in their work.

As well as a significant first-prize of £25,000 and three runners-up prizes, the competition also includes a special prize for entrants under the age of 30, continuing the Award's role as a showcase for young artistic talent. Anyone selected for the exhibition is also eligible to enter for the BP Travel Award.

Paul Rooney has won the Northern Art Prize 2008. He was selected from a shortlist including Clare Charnley, Richard Forster and Imogen Stidworthy by this year's judges Iwona Blazwick, Louisa Buck, Georgina Starr, Anita Zabludowicz and Tanja Pirsig-Marshall. The judges commented 'It was a difficult decision this year but Rooney's inventive, energetic and eclectic work stood out. The work on show for the prize proved him to be a fresh, original voice in today's Northern art scene'. Rooney was presented with the £16,500 prize by artist Georgina Starr, Artist and Northern Art Prize judge. The remaining artists received £1500 each. northernartprize.org.uk

London International Creative Competition

  BIG NEWS:

A new cash prize of £2500 has been added to the first annual LICC competition! The finalists in the exhibition will get to choose the prize recipient.

We are also excited to announce that the exhibition will be hosted by Gallery Yujiro with a collateral event at Alma Enterprises Gallery.

Due to an overwhelming response from international entrants and the addition of the new cash prize, the deadline for submissions has been extended to September 30.

EAC Art Awards WELCOME TO EAC OVER 60S ART AWARDS!

The Art Awards were created in 1995 to celebrate and promote the artistic talents of older people.  This national, annual competition for amateur artists has since gone from strength to strength, attracting thousands of entries from across the UK, and culminating each year in an exhibition of finalists in London.  Art Awards is open to all older people, and EAC works closely with providers of retirement housing, care homes and day centres to encourage the widest possible participation.
