Wray Scarecrow Festival. usually in May WWW Scarecrows |
Wray Scarecrow Festival. All through the winter the quaintly snowed-in rural folk of Wray Village have been eccentrically passing the time engaged in their indigenous craft - making fabulous scarecrows! The streets, lanes and alleyways of this picturesque village will be populated by tableaux and fantasy creations on all kinds of themes - politics, TV and more. I think we can expect some royal scarecrows for sure. There will be delicious and cheap home-made refreshments in Wray Institute all week. There will be a display of costumes and flowers 'Moments in Time' with music at Holy Trinity Church. David and Goliath Rap Mon-Fri Wray school 11am + 2pm. The Festival kicks off today with the St George's Day celebrations, and finishes with the big fair on May Monday. Don't miss this. You just have to go. If our council had any sense they'd organise special buses. See www.wrayvillage.co.uk/scarecrows.htm for a stack of info or tel: 01524 32878. |

| Storey Gallery The Storey Institute Meeting House Lane Lancaster LA1 1TH Tel/Fax: 01524 844133 Web Site: CLICK HERE for exhibition details. | The first of these offsite projects has already started. We have commissioned three artists, all from the North-West of England, to develop new work that relates to buildings, architecture and the Storey Institute in particular. The artists are Jane Chavez-Dawson, Jason Minsky and John Gilbert. These artists will be working in very different ways and in a variety of locations. The projects are open-ended, allowing each artist to produce unpredictable results. Jason Minsky is interested in the statue of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert that can be found watching over the North end of the Storey Gallery. Jason is currently visiting statues of Queen Victoria all over the UK and sending ‘wish you were here’ Polaroids back to Prince Albert at the Storey Gallery.
