Joined Up: Contemporary Collaborative Drawing features eight groups of artists from different disciplines, drawing together. As a group their work represents a sample of current drawing practice.

From personal illustrative drawings, to public drawing experiments.
Each of these artists use drawing as a means investigation and expression. Collaboration is a method in its own right, but also a means of exploring and unpicking one's own practice.

Garstang Arts Centre Open Exhibition

January 12th- February 11th 2010 The Garstang Arts Centre Open Exhibition, held in both rooms, will be open to the public from Tuesday January 12th. Artists from all over Lancashire and South Cumbria have been invited to exhibit their work, so there will be a variety of work in a different styles and media on display. The Exhibition will be judged by Helen Carr and Linda Robinson from the Artroom Gallery in Bridge Street, Garstang, which sells a wide range of local arts and crafts. The exhibition will be well worth visiting and most of the paintings will be for sale.

Feb 13th-March 13th Lytham Art Group An exciting exhibition by members of the Lytham St Annes Art Society will take place at Garstang Arts Centre from Feb13th to March 13th. On view and for sale at very reasonable prices, will be a variety of work in many different mediums. The members have the opportunity to attend workshops every day in our new studio, and the quality of work has really improved. Come and have a look and admire the wealth of talent that exists in the Fylde. You can enjoy a cup of coffee and admire the works on the walls. Approximately thirty members will be exhibiting one work each so there will be something for all tastes.

Beverley Chapelhow and Keith Parkinson exhibition at the Sultan

Melt – Concealed Forms. Motifs that transform to greater or lesser degrees with heat and light. Beverley’s chocolate and cake inspired images of sumptuous, sensuous delights describe her passion for her subject matter and the media she works in. Keith’s landscape derived images express his wonder at how light conditions can transform tranquil locations into dramatic images. Both work along a broad band between figurative and abstract work. Wray Scarecrow Festival. All through the winter the quaintly snowed-in rural folk of Wray Village have been eccentrically passing the time engaged in their indigenous craft - making fabulous scarecrows! The streets, lanes and alleyways of this picturesque village will be populated by tableaux and fantasy creations on all kinds of themes - politics, TV and more. I think we can expect some royal scarecrows for sure. There will be delicious and cheap home-made refreshments in Wray Institute all week. There will be a display of costumes and flowers 'Moments in Time' with music at Holy Trinity Church. David and Goliath Rap Mon-Fri Wray school 11am + 2pm. The Festival kicks off today with the St George's Day celebrations, and finishes with the big fair on May Monday. Don't miss this. You just have to go. What: Fresh on the Market is a new initiative that has been set up in order to provide local artists, designers and makers the opportunity to sell their work in the heart of the city. It extends the ethos of PAD the new contemporary store and gallery space located on Church Street enlivening the city centre, and providing additional quality shopping. It will encourage networking and idea exchange as well as providing significant potential for attracting a new audience to the city, enhancing Preston's image as a creative and cultural European city.

Who: Anyone is welcome to take a stall to sell anything creative. It could be paintings, sculpture, ceramics, jewellery, fashion, music, furniture, toys, photographs Â¦ As long as you make or produce it yourself!

Where: The location will be the Old Fish Market off Earl Street, Preston or the larger Market when appropriate.

The Fresh Contemporary Art Markets will build on last years progress! These markets are a great sales opportunity for local designer makers, craftspeople and artists, stalls cost from Â¡£14 and can be shared between artists.

They also make for a great alternative shopping experience on a leisurely Sunday. This year we hope to include food produce and flowers on the markets, so there will be even more reason to come along and shop!
